Singapore Day 3 (Part II): 01/25/14

As mentioned in the previous post, the night performances were my favorites. I guess they were really saving the best for last since more people started moving to the front.

See that lighted thing on the photo above? I think it's an aerial camera, cool huh? Just want to share lol Anyway, after Savages played, I went to the standalone stage called the Cloud Stage to check out the Australian dance band, Jagwar Ma.

Unfortunately, Gabriel Winterfield, the lead vocalist/guitarist, couldn't make it due to an injury. Instead, Jono Ma did a special DJ set, which I thought was dead good. Hope he could DJ for my birthday someday *bucket list* lol I really like their songs, "Man I Need" and "The Throw." If you like The xx, you should give Jagwar Ma a listen! After, I went back to the main stage since Haim was next. I tried my best to squeeze through the crowds to get a better view of the performance, but sadly, this was the best that I could do.

Haim was probably the most known band in the lineup, thanks to their ferocious sound and "don't-care" attitude. The 3 sisters from Los Angeles, Alana, Danielle and Este, were initially in a band with their parents called Rockinhaim. Later on, they dropped the 'Rockin', and just became Haim, which is actually their last name. My favorites from them are "Falling", "Forever" and "The Wire." I must say, they are amazing live, especially during this drum part that they did all together (Wish I got a video of it but my phone was already low batt *ugly cry*). What a talented bunch! Daddy and mommy Haim must be so proud!

Next was my ultimate favorite from the whole festival lineup, CHVRCHES!!! This synthpop band from Scotland is made up of Iain Cook, Martin Doherty and the cutest Lauren Mayberry. I sang along to their songs, "Recover", "Lies", "Gun" and "The Mother We Share." I would only listen to them on my phone or on YouTube but now, I can't believe I saw them live. What a dream come true!

Ending the night was the sultry and sexy, English singer-songwriter, James Blake. Even if I'm a bigger fan of CHVRCHES, I think James Blake was the perfect end to the festival since his voice was just... Aaah. I can't describe it, but I got a tingly feeling all over my body when he played my favorite song, "Limit To Your Love." I think if he was my boyfriend, and he sang to me, I would literally die from the kilig lol

Overall, it was an amazing first Laneway Festival experience. Hoping for a better lineup next year, but this one will be tough to beat. Nevertheless, it's not impossible right? Hihi See you all at Singapore Laneway Festival 2015!

And oh, Happy Hearts Day to everyone! Spread the love!

Cheers,
Michelle
