It's apparent that I only blog when I've been on a trip, and for that, I apologize. I just really love traveling more than anything in the world (Ok, maybe food and travel are equal lol), and nothing makes me happier than discovering new places. Last April 1-5, we had our first family trip of the year to Japan. We've already been to Tokyo so we explored Osaka and Kyoto this time. Unfortunately, my sister who currently resides in Singapore, couldn't come with us since she had her own trip to Tokyo with her boyfriend, Brian. We arrived around 2:30 in the afternoon (Japan is ahead by an hour).
We stayed in Bellevue Garden Hotel near Kansai International Airport since my dad wanted a hotel that had an airport shuttle bus service *rolls eyes* HAHAHA! It was really far from Osaka (45 minutes) and Kyoto (1 hour and 30 minutes) though so we would usually leave really early, and just sleep on the train.
To be honest, we had a pretty hard time figuring out the railway on our first day. It wasn't as easy as the Singapore MRT, probably because of the language barrier, but the trains were really nice! We got the 4-day Kansai Area Pass since it's more expensive if you buy the train passes individually.
Guess what that Mona Lisa artwork above is made out of? Train tickets! Cool huh?! It was my turn to do the itinerary for this trip since my sister wasn't with us, so of course, we only went to the places that I wanted to go HEHEHE! Being the dork that I am, our first stop was...
... Pokemon Center in Daimaru Umeda Department Store in Osaka!!! It's basically a huge shop that sells Pokemon merchandise, like stuffed toys, keychains, trading cards, pens, towels and more. I really like the Bulbasaur slippers above but it's only for young children *ugly cry*
I love the railway stations there too since most of them have restaurants, convenience stores and even fashion shops underground! We just had dinner in a random restaurant in one of the train stations. I got Tonkatsu with curry, and it was actually good. I think one of the things I really loved about our trip was discovering these hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Everything in Japan was just so yummy!!!

It was quite an uneventful first day, but we were so exhausted by the end of it! My next posts will be more exciting, I promise!
Cheers,
Michelle
