7107 International Music Festival Day 2: 02/23/14

The second day of the festival was epic! No wonder there were much more people who came that day. The main stage was already packed when we arrived late in the afternoon. I didn't really have photos during the day since most of the performances I wanted to watch were scheduled at night. We arrived around 4:30 PM, just in time to catch Red Jumpsuit Apparatus since my high school self wanted to sing "My Guardian Angel" with so much passion (Especially the "Use me as you will..." part lol).

Bodysuit: Vintage // Skirt: Love Culture // Shoes: Dr. Martens // Bag: H&M

We caught Radioactive Sago Project performing on the second stage! I'm glad a lot of people were supporting the local acts as well.

I went back to the main stage to get a nicer view of the acts since Kendrick Lamar, Empire of the Sun and Red Hot Chili Peppers were all going to perform there consecutively. Kendrick Lamar's performance was sick! I really admire rappers, especially when they freestyle rap. I think they're modern-day poets HAHAHA! My favorites include "Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe", "Money Trees", "Swimming Pools (Drank)", "m.A.A.d City" and "Poetic Justice." I'm so excited for his new album later this year!

I felt like I was watching Freddie Mercury mixed with Cirque du Soleil when this Australian duo was performing lol Probably like most people, my favorites from Empire of the Sun are "Walking on a Dream" and "Alive." Those kinds of songs are just the "feel good" types, you know? I always listen to "Alive" when I'm down, and it usually makes me feel better! Or alive (Get it, get it...) Ok, I'll stop now lol!

I was with my block mates, Leica and Min most of the night. We were so excited for Red Hot Chili Peppers! We saw another block mate of ours but sadly, we weren't able to take a photo with him since he was busy... in a mosh pit... (Hi Aki! lol)

AAAAAH!!! Sometimes I can't believe that I've seen Red Hot Chili Peppers live!!! They were beyond awesome!!! Thinking about it now, I'm so thankful for my older sister who would listen to them during her teenage days, and I had no choice but to listen to her music since we shared a room. Nu rock 107 days *cries* It sounds so cliché, but I really like every single one of their songs. Although I specifically was so into "Otherside", "Californication" and "Under The Bridge" during the concert. Tony, Flea and Chad are definitely the coolest 50-year-olds ever! Flea's photo is probably my favorite one from the whole festival. He was just KILLING it on the bass! Also, doesn't Josh kind of look like Chandler from FRIENDS in the photo above? HAHAHA!

Despite the intrigues that surrounded the festival, I could say that it was quite a success so props to the organizers! I really hope the lineup will be better next year (Kanye, Coldplay and Drake please!). Also, the portalets were really disgusting so I hope they could improve on that too. Nonetheless, I feel so blessed that I was able to attend this festival. It was definitely one for the books! Initially, I wasn't supposed to go since the tickets were expensive, but thank you so much Richmonde Hotel Ortigas for making all of this possible!

Cheers,
Michelle
