Our second day was jam-packed so we started early! My morning consisted of a green tea and white chocolate muffin, and the latest Nylon Japan magazine that I bought the previous day. Every day, we would get on the 8:30 shuttle to the airport, and then ride the JR-West rapid train to Kyoto. We would be in Kyoto around 10. If we were friends, you probably know that I don't dress normally, and I strongly believe that I was a Harajuku girl in the past life lol I'm so happy I was able to wear my bones leggings and Magikarp hat without people staring at me weirdly HAHAHA! Of course I took the opportunity to wear this amazing piece created by my talented friend, Bex in the "Land of Pokemon" hihi
Coat: River Island // Top: H&M // Skirt: Love Culture // Leggings: From Hong Kong // Magikarp hat: Not Your Ordinary Hooker
Before we boarded the JR Nara line to Inari Station, we saw these heavenly waffles with flavors like green tea, strawberry, almond and chocolate being sold in Kyoto Station. I got the almond flavor, and it was delicious! We shortly got to our first destination, Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine in Kyoto. Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, situated in Mount Inari, is lined up with thousands of Torii gates donated by wealthy individuals and companies, in devotion to Inari, the Shinto god of rice, sake and prosperity, as well as the patron of business, merchants and manufacturers.
Believed to be a cleansing ritual, visitors may drink the sacred water before the climb and at the halfway mark in Yotsutsuji Intersection. Along the trail, we also saw several fox statues, which are considered as Inari's messengers, and numerous mounds for private worship. Our hike up the mountain took us about 2 hours, and we were beyond exhausted. However, that didn't stop us from going to our next destination, Osaka Castle.
We didn't enter the famous Osaka Castle anymore, but we still explored the castle grounds. There were people running, biking, taking photos, and even having picnics under the lovely cherry blossoms. We also ate yummy Takoyaki (Japanese dough balls with octopus) sold by vendors in the area. By the time we were done, there were already a number of people going home from work. I noticed how most Japanese men actually wear suits to the office everyday. I wish it was the same here since suits look really nice on men, but the weather is just too hot!
We were pretty tired at the end of the day so we decided to just shop and relax. We had dinner first in a random restaurant in Namba. Everything in Japan was so fascinating! We ordered our food through a vending machine, wherein you give your "receipt" to the waitress, then she can just bring the food to your table. I also love their toilets, by the way. Best toilets in the world lol I didn't buy much during this trip since everything was really expensive. I bought those black sandals at the far right though teehee! Yep, Harajuku girl in the past life, indeed.
Cheers,
Michelle
