My Rainy Day Picks

Monday, July 11, 2016

They say seasons in the Philippines can be described in 3 ways: Summer, rainy and super rainy. Rainy season is upon us agai— which means twice the traffic, and thrice the hassle! Unless you're bundled up in a thick comforter with hot coffee and a good book on the side, wet days can be such a bummer. Personally, I don't even like going out anymore when it's raining outside because it's such a drag. With that, here are my top 5 rainy-day pick-me-up selections:

A reliable, waterproof jacket is a must during the rainy season. This repellant jacket from Courier features a nylon blend material, perfect for numerous errands on a gloomy day. Where style meets functionality, the jacket reveals multiple pockets, combined with a stylish navy blue wash for easy fashion combinations.

Uniqlo is definitely my go-to store for high-quality fashion apparel. Aside from this, I really love their collaborations with designers, artists, global brands and now — fast-food giants such as our lovable Jollibee! Uniqlo just released a new collection of Jollibee short-sleeved t-shirts, and the one above is my favorite among the bunch. Available in over 30+ stores nationwide for only 590 pesos, Uniqlo and Jollibee truly live up to the mission of providing affordable products to their customers.

Uniqlo stores: Robinsons Galleria, Estancia Mall, SM City Marikina, Robinsons Magnolia, SM City San Lazaro, Eastwood City, Gateway Mall, Araneta Center, Robinson's Place Manila, SM BF Paranaque, SM City Fairview, Power Plant Mall, SM Makati, Century City Mall, Glorietta 5, SM Megamall, SM Aura, SM North EDSA, SM MOA, SM City Cabanatuan, SM City Rosales, SM City Clark, SM Pampanga, Evia 3, Ayala Malls Solenad 3, SM City Lipa, SM Southmall, SM City Santa Rosa, SM City Dasmarinas, SM City Iloilo, SM City Bacolod, SM Seaside City, SM City Cebu

If there's one footwear brand I'm confident to don in any weather, my trusty Timberland boots are easily the first choice in mind. I bought the same pair in Wheat Nubuck color when I was in Innsbruck because my old boots kept getting wet in the snow and rain there. The boots are properly insulated and lined for that added comfort and durability. On the fashion side, it's also very easy to pair with anything for that effortless look. Quite expensive for a pair, yes, but trust me, it's really worth the investment.

Timberland stores: Shangri-La Plaza Mall East Wing (6th Floor), SM Cebu North Wing (Ground Floor), SM Marikina (2nd Floor), SM Megamall Building B (2nd Floor), SM North Edsa Annex (2nd Floor), Ayala Cebu Active Zone (2nd Level), SM Lanang Premier Davao (2nd Floor), Limketkai Mall Cagayan De Oro (2nd Floor), Ayala Centrio Cagayan De Oro (2nd Floor), Glorietta 5 (Ground Level), Abreeza Mall Davao (Level 2), SM Bacolod (Ground Floor), SM North EDSA (Footwear), SM Makati (Footwear), SM Mall of Asia (Footwear), Paseo De Sta Rosa - Laguna (Phase 4), The Outlets at Pueblo Verde (Cebu)

I really hate it when my bag gets wet when I travel. This waterproof backpack cover from Wanderskye is suitable for hiking enthusiasts who dream of reaching the highest peaks in the world. Illustrated by artist, Dan Fajardo, its design features popular mountain peaks, such as Mt. Everest in Nepal/Tibet, and The Matterhorn in Switzerland/Italy. Proudly local, Wanderskye offers other unique travel accessories for the ceaseless adventurer.

It's evident on my Instagram that I love taking photos of my travels, but you rarely see me post any videos. My dream gadget for shooting videos (besides a DJI Phantom 4 drone) would have to be the GoPro HERO4. Luckily, Lazada has an ongoing 'Super Brands' sale from July 5-11, making their GoPro HERO4 Silver price the cheapest among its usual 17-20K counterparts. I purchased one a few days ago, and came in pristine condition — not to mention, fast and reliable delivery as well. Can't wait to use it for my future travels!

So stay safe and dry, folks! In the meantime, here's a rainy day song for you all.

Cheers,
Michelle
