Right now, I'm sure you already know that I love to travel so I'm really excited to share my adventures and misadventures with you!
Last weekend, I went to Hong Kong with my officemate, Cherish. We've been planning to go to Hong Kong for months now, so one random morning, she messages me at 2am to check out Cebu Pacific's sale for roundtrip tickets to Hong Kong. Luckily, we were able to get ours for only 2,400 pesos! Not bad, eh? The deal was so good that my other two friends, Yana and Joshua booked as well during that same weekend.
Cherish and I were so excited to travel because one, it would be her first time in Hong Kong, and mine as well (...ish, since I just had a 1-day layover there before), two, because we're both workaholics so we really needed a break that time, and three, we both love to eat!
So our first order of business - Eat dim sum! I've been craving for weeks before my trip, so my friend Tiffany gladly bought me to a dim sum restaurant near her office called DimDimsum. According to its menu, the restaurant is considered one of the 101 Best Places to Eat in the World by the 2012 Newsweek Foodie Awards, and awarded Best Dim Sum by TimeOut Hong Kong in 2011. My favorite dishes were the Shanghai Soup Dumplings with Black Truffle and the Pan-fried Stuffed Eggplant with Teriyaki Sauce.
The service was fast, and the prices were affordable as well so my dim sum-loving self was truly happy after the meal. Thank you, Tiffany for the treat!

Cherish is the biggest Hello Kitty fan, so we decided to visit the Hello Kitty Cafe in Tai Hang. We waited for about an hour since the cafe is very small, accommodating probably just around 15-20 people. We're lucky there weren't that much people lining up, or we would've waited longer! Best to come in during a weekday or off-peak hours to get a table right away.
I really liked the wooden, organic interiors of the cafe, and everything from the chairs to the food was Hello Kitty! I got the strawberry mousse cake and almond latte. Both tasted good, but they're quite pricey for a **small cake (48 HKD) and a cup of coffee (40 HKD). I would definitely try other cafes in the area, such as Classified, Blisshive Bakery Cafe and Unar Coffee Company when I visit Hong Kong again.
** There is a minimum charge of 60 HKD per person

Of course a trip to Hong Kong wouldn't be complete without visiting Victoria Peak! Before arriving in Hong Kong, I've been seeing photos of the panoramic view from The Peak Tower, and it just looked amazing. True enough, the skyline and city lights really captured the hustle and bustle of the city.
Here, you can also visit the famous Madame Tussauds wax museum, alongside a few shops and restaurants. However, The Peak is known to be one of the most expensive and exclusive residences in Hong Kong, housing celebrities, prominent government officials, and powerful businessmen.
Location: 128 Peak Road, The Peak
Business hours: The Peak Tram - 7am to 12am // The Peak Tower - Monday to Friday - 10am to 11pm; Saturday & Sunday - 8am to 11pm
Admission: Get the Peak Tram Sky Pass (The Peak Tram & Sky Terrace 428) - 83 HKD
Aaah... Heavenly dim sum and beautiful skylines. Good job, Hong Kong.
Cheers,
Michelle
