Singapore Day 1: 01/23/14

Hello, I'm back from Singapore! As promised, I will be blogging about my trip in the coming days. I had the most amazing time! I will definitely go back again next year.

I'll never take an early morning flight again since I wasn't able to get enough sleep. I was so sleepy the whole day!

I'm glad my sister's friend was able to get our Laneway Festival wristbands in advance so we don't have to line up during the day itself. Plus, we got some pretty cute freebies too! I wore the deer temporary tattoo on my left ankle during the festival.

As soon as I arrived, I met up with my friends, Jenica, Yana and Leica for lunch in Five & Dime. On the way to the restaurant, we passed by this skate park at Somerset, and took some photos since the place was pretty cool.

I loved the cozy ambiance of the restaurant, plus the food was really yummy too. I ordered the Chicken Katsu burger, and we all shared a Milo Panna Cotta. The Chicken Katsu burger was delicious, but I had the Wasabi mayo removed since I don't like mayo. The Milo Panna Cotta was to die for! It was really something different since I don't think I've ever tasted something like that before. Despite the food being quite pricey, it was worth it. I can definitely see myself dining here more often if I lived in Singapore. Everything was so simple, yet inviting.

For dinner, I met up with my sister, Trina and her boyfriend, Brian to have my first hawker food experience in Makansutra Glutton's Bay, near the famous Marina Bay. The place is an open-air food centre with a wide range of food stalls to choose from. My favorite was the crispy baby squid. Aside from the delicious and affordable food, it's definitely a nice place to drink as well since the centre is open until early morning.

Overall, it was a great first day in Singapore. Stay tuned for day 2!

Cheers,
Michelle
