Finally, I found time to blog again about our Japan trip last April. I just started working at Globe Telecom as a copywriter so I've been really busy lately. I decided to combine everything in this post instead since we didn't do much during our last 2 days.
We took our usual JR-West rapid train to Kyoto, and we would always pass the Meiji chocolate factory. What a coincidence since I just had Kinoko No Yama for breakfast, yum! Our only itinerary for that day was the bamboo forest in Arashiyama. I really made sure to include this in our itinerary because I've seen photos of the bamboo forest online, and it looked magical.
Coat: River Island // Dress: From Singapore
The bamboo forest was truly breathtaking. Arashiyama, found in the western outskirts of Kyoto, is a popular district for tourists due to its natural setting. Aside from the bamboo forest, there are also temples, rivers, shrine compounds, private villas, souvenir shops, restaurants and even a monkey park. We weren't able to explore the area more since my parents wanted to go shopping already.
We went back to Osaka to shop around Umeda. I was desperately looking for an old-school Tamagotchi, but only managed to find the glittery Tamagotchi P's in Kiddy Land *ugly cry* Just bought a foot rug for my room in one of the department stores in the area, and a pair of Uniqlo jeans in the airport during our last day. I'm glad my sister, who was in Tokyo with her boyfriend, was able to buy us weird flavors of KitKat, such as rum raisin, wasabi, chili and cream cheese. I've only tasted the wasabi flavor so far, and I didn't really like it lol
Personally, I still prefer Tokyo over Osaka and Kyoto since it's more hip and modern. Osaka and Kyoto are definitely more of the traditional cities in Japan, but I absolutely enjoyed touring the temples, shrines and forests that we visited. Nonetheless, whether it'd be Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto, I will always love Japan, forever and ever.
Cheers,
Michelle
