During our second day in Hong Kong, we just spent it in Disneyland. I don't even remember when's the last time I went to a Disneyland theme park, but it must have been forever! I've only been to the one in California when I was still young. I don't remember much, just that I was still in a stroller that time (So you're probably guessing how long ago that was already...). And to be honest, although I'm a fan of Disney movies, I'm not really a fan of the Disneyland theme park itself since it's more for children, and I like Universal Studios a whole lot better because of the rides as well.
But of course, there will always be a child in me (Most of the time actually). I wanted to experience Disneyland again, so we decided to go there on a Sunday. You might think we're pretty crazy going on one of the busiest days for the theme park; we'll definitely spend the whole day just lining up. Surprisingly, it was actually the opposite! We never spent more than 10 minutes lining up for a ride. We actually finished early, just in time to wait for the night parade and fireworks.
Probably one of the most popular and universal ride of all in Disneyland, the whimsical boat ride of "it's a small world after all." Even if dolls creep me out (Thanks to Child's Play!), I really appreciated the details that went into every country represented in the ride. It was great too that they incorporated Disney characters into the countries, such as Woody and Jessie from Toy Story in the American West scene. I also spotted the Philippines! The tarsier was such a cute addition to the scene. "it's a small world" is located in Fantasyland.
One of the main reasons why I really wanted to visit Disneyland Hong Kong was because of Toy Story Land. I've watched every Toy Story movie multiple times, and have grown to love each character fondly, so much so that I actually cried during Toy Story 3! Remember the incinerator scene? Ugh, bawled like a baby. If you're planning to visit Disneyland Hong Kong, make sure to ride the RC Racer - one of my favorite rides in the whole theme park. Just the right amount of butterflies in your stomach!
We finished early with the rides, just in time to catch the night parade in Main Street, U.S.A. at around 6:45pm. "Disney Paint the Night" featured various Disney characters in their respective floats filled with thousands of LED lights. Accompanied by music and audio, each original float was crafted meticulously to fit the character's own persona, and was developed to have its own lighting system per costume. I loved how every Disney employee - or "cast member", as they called it, would go out of his or her way to make each and every person happy. I actually wanted to be a Disney cast member after this! The parade lasted for about 45 minutes.
What I vividly remembered during my trip before to Disneyland were the fireworks at the end of the day. Above Sleeping Beauty's magnificent castle, vibrant lights filled the sky, while you wistfully listened to your favorite classic Disney songs in the background. The fireworks only lasted for about 12 minutes, but I truly felt a sense of child-like happiness after experiencing such a fun day at Disneyland. I definitely look forward to visiting Disneyland Paris and Tokyo in the future!
